One of the top selling toys recently has been the Axis Gyro RC Quadcopter that has a camera. This unmanned aircraft is a fun gadget for kids, teens or adults. It can be used by beginners or those more experienced with operating remote controlled devices.
The Gyro has a long battery life and the powerful motor allows the device to fly high – even over treetops (although you do need to remain within a 30 m distance to ensure control).
The Gyro has great stability when it flies, but you’ll want to avoid heavy winds, since this is a light-weight aircraft. The body of the device is tough, so you don’t have to worry that it will sustain damage if your child flies it into a tree.
The Gyro has a camera that has two functions. If you push one button, the camera can take a still shot. If you push the video button on the controller, then it will take a video.
This video footage will record until you stop it. The screen on the controller has an indicator icon that will let you know if the aircraft camera is in camera or video mode.
The picture that you’ll get is static free – even when the device is in motion. You can move the camera recording from the aircraft by using the USB cable so that you can share it on your computer.
Though some people go ahead and turn on the camera or the video ability before they let the aircraft go airborne, you can do it while the device is already in the air if you forget.
The controller gives users the ability to control all directional aspects of the device. You can move it forward, backward or to the left or right. There are also slides that will move the aircraft up and down.
It does have the ability to do a 360 view, which will actually flip the device. You can also use the controller to tilt the device to the left or to the right as it flies. You can put it in mode 1 – which makes the aircraft fly slower.
This is the recommended setting for those just learning how to use a remote controlled aircraft – or for smaller kids – because the device can quickly fly out of remote range when it’s in mode 2.
Mode 2 will make the device fly pretty fast, and if you’re a beginner, you won’t want to use this mode if you have a lot of obstacles like trees or buildings in your flight path.
The front of the machine does have deflectors and the wider propellers are on the front of the device. This helps with movement and stability. The smaller propellers within the frame can start and lift the device from the ground or other surface.
The aircraft toy is easy to get started with right from the box. All you have to do is put the battery in and push it until it presses against the stop. They turn it on, let it fly and watch what the world shows from a bird’s eye view!
